The story of the object

Holy See holds reverence and disbelief in the same frame. A watchful, gold-winged fish moves across an oxblood field patterned with original ornament, arriving at a blunt conclusion: the sacred and the absurd are often the same thing.

The artwork and repeating background pattern were created for this work. Here, the image is set behind an antique-white mat and acrylic glazing in a gold-finished frame, giving the strange little revelation a formal place on the wall.

Materials & Making

The illustration, repeating background pattern, color treatment, and composition are original Bad Lion digital artwork.

The 10 × 10-inch image is printed on smooth hot press fine-art paper, mounted to foam core, set behind an antique-white mat and acrylic glazing, and finished in a gold frame with kraft backing and hanging wire.

A hanging wire is installed for wall display. Use mounting hardware appropriate to the wall surface and finished weight.

Care & Variation

Handle the work by the frame edges. Dust the frame and acrylic glazing gently with a clean, soft microfiber cloth.

Do not use ammonia-based glass cleaner, abrasive cleaner, or paper towels on the acrylic. Keep the framed work away from prolonged direct sunlight, moisture, and high heat.

Screen color is an approximation; the physical print is the reference.
